Off the Beaten Path to Tam Giang Lagoon

A different way to discover Hue

Leave the city behind and ride into the countryside on the back of a motorbike.
Wind through quiet village paths, pause at small temples, pass by local markets where daily life unfolds. Unfiltered, unhurried!

There are no crowds here. No staged moments. Just the gentle rhythm of rural Vietnam.

Life on the lagoon

Arriving at a fishing village on Tam Giang Lagoon, you’ll step onto a simple motorized sampan, just like the ones locals use every day.

Glide across calm waters, try your hand at fishing, and watch the light soften as the lagoon opens wide around you.

Climb up to a small bamboo hut on stilts, set above the water, and share a drink with fishermen as the sun slowly sets. No scripts, no performances, just real conversations and quiet connection.

An evening of simple pleasures

As night falls, continue your journey through the fields to a hidden farmhouse.
A home-cooked meal awaits, prepared with care from what the land provides.

After dinner, sit around a pot of tea.
Listen to frogs and cicadas.
Exchange stories with your hosts, and discover a way of living that is self-sufficient, grounded, and deeply “green.”

“Out of the ordinary” farm-to-table dining

Not a tour. A feeling.

This is not a typical itinerary and it may not be fully described before you arrive.
Because what we offer is not a product, but a sense of discovery.

Even though Tam Giang Lagoon is well known, we work with communities on its quiet edges, far from the usual paths.

Nothing is staged. Fishing comes first. Life continues as it always has.

We simply open a door for you to step in gently, respectfully.

Slow travel, as it should be

This is slow travel. You follow your curiosity. You trust the unknown. And somewhere along the way, you may find what you didn’t realize you were looking for:

A moment of stillness.
A genuine connection.
A return to the art of living slowly.

Because when nothing is forced, everything feels real.

Boating or walking, slowly to feel the flow of rural immersion.

And the slow travelers, how did they experiences?

We did this experience yesterday, and honestly, it’s something we will remember for a very long time.
It was truly a beautiful experience to gain insight into the lives of these fishermen, in a stunning environment that does not hide the hardship of their work. The smiles, kindness, and hospitality of the people were remarkable.
Riding through the villages by motorbike was also a wonderful moment, not to mention the evening meal in a beautiful setting, with fresh ingredients that were absolutely delicious, all accompanied by the same warm welcome.
I highly recommend this experience.

Extraordinary.
We experienced something truly rich in meaningful encounters with local people.
We were alone in discovering beautiful landscapes and warm smiles at every corner.
And the final meal – such incredible conviviality, with dishes of great subtlety. A special mention to the young man who introduced us to a tea unlike anything we had ever tasted.
Thank you to Slow Travel, and congratulations on what you are doing for Vietnam.

Savouring the ancient rose tea at the regenerative farm

Toured with Charlie to an ancient fishing village at Tam Giang lagoon, just outside of Hue. We went to a local market with fresh meat and produce and he answered all of my questions about the various items. On the boat I learned about ancient fishing culture and techniques. A sampling of the catch of the day, and other local delights, were deliciously prepared for lunch at a local fisherman’s house. Charlie was incredibly informative and charismatic.
