Venture off in Bach Ma National Park on a green day trip from Hue. Retrace the treasures of former French retreat as you ramble along botanical trails to appreciate endemic fauna and flora. The panoramic view from Vong Hai Dai tower, refreshing “Ngũ Hồ” Five Lakes or a savory picnic lunch on the top of magnificent Đỗ Quyên waterfall will satisfy all your senses.
Bach Ma Nature Discovery is a great day trip from Hue or Da Nang. Travelers can also start from Hoi An and finish in Hue for one day. With a private vehicle and experienced driver, we can safely ride up near the national park summit. There are three options to trek, from 3 to 5km each. We can customise trekking levels to guests interest and capacity.
There will be a good mix between trekking, interpretation and natural relaxation. A healthy picnic lunch is arranged by the waterfall or in the villa if the weather is not favorable. Nature lovers who wish to discover in-depth Bach Ma may consider two-day tour “Bach Ma Forest Camping”.
March to September is best the season to go to Bach Ma. It is sunnier and there is more fauna, flora to explore. October to February is the rainy season however fit adventurers will find it interesting to explore quieter nature and special species.
Bạch Mã National Park (40km from Huế)

In the morning, take a smooth transfer to Bach Ma National Park, located 40km South of Hue city. On the way, the guide delivers a brief history and roles of Bach Ma Forest. Stop at the Visitor Centre to get an overview of the national park typography, biodiversity values and trails options. Continue with a 19km uphill drive. The road winds past many twists and turns, yet well designed to let you touch nature beauty from different angles. Stop for some quiet walk if you happen to spot any pheasant, birds suddenly appearing along the road.
Start first with a warm up hike to Vọng Hải Đài peak, situated at 1450m above sea level. This octagonal architecture used to serve as a sea observation tower. From here, stretch your view to the ocean, Tam Giang lagoon and the whole strip of Lang Co beach. Blaze the less travelled interpretation trails to unveil footprints of wildlife and endemic species. This leisure stroll spreads approximately 3km, under the shade and is very kid friendly.
Continue hiking along Ngu Ho trails, five natural cascading lakes lying peacefully under dense forest canopy. Mind your steps and use supportive ropes as you climb down slippery cliffs. Gloves, a long sleeve shirt, and proper trekking shoes are advisable.
If you feel hungry already, then it is time for a tasty picnic lunch. Fruits, tea, coffee and cake are included. Enjoy some time at leisure for swimming or connecting with nature.
The afternoon is dedicated to browsing medicinal and botanical gardens along 5km trails. Learn about their scientific characteristics and local know-how in traditional healing. Arrive at Do Quyen waterfall, named after the Rhododendron flower. Absorb with marvelous vista from the top, is the most wanted highlights.
Rejoin your vehicle for a scenic descent. You may admire the gorgeous sunset and sea clouds if the weather supports it. Arrive at your hotel in Hue in late afternoon.
