Bach Ma Nature Discovery is an excellent day trip from Hue or Da Nang. Travelers can also start from Hoi An and finish in Hue in just one day. With a private vehicle and an experienced driver, we can safely journey up near the summit of the national park.
Three trekking options are available, ranging from 3 to 5 km each, and the trekking level can be customized to suit guests’ interests and capacities.
The itinerary offers a well-balanced mix of trekking, interpretation, and natural relaxation. A healthy picnic lunch is arranged by the waterfall, or in a villa if the weather is unfavorable. For nature enthusiasts seeking a deeper experience, the two-day “Bach Ma Forest Camping” tour is a great option.
The best time to visit Bach Ma is from March to September, when the weather is sunnier and the fauna and flora are more abundant. October to February marks the rainy season, but fit adventurers may find it rewarding to explore the quieter landscapes and unique species during this time.
Bạch Mã National Park (40km from Huế)

In the morning, enjoy a smooth transfer to Bach Ma National Park, located 40 km south of Hue city. Along the way, your guide will share a brief history of Bach Ma Forest and its ecological significance. Stop at the Visitor Centre for an overview of the park’s topography, biodiversity, and trail options. From there, continue with a scenic 19 km uphill drive. The winding road, with its twists and turns, offers spectacular views and opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty from different angles. Pause for a quiet walk if you spot pheasants or birds along the way.
Begin your adventure with a warm-up hike to Vọng Hải Đài Peak, situated 1,450 meters above sea level. This octagonal structure once served as a sea observation tower. From the peak, enjoy sweeping views of the ocean, Tam Giang Lagoon, and the Lang Co beach strip. Take the less-traveled interpretation trails to uncover wildlife footprints and endemic species. This leisurely 3 km stroll, shaded and family-friendly, is ideal for nature lovers of all ages.
Next, hike along the Ngũ Hồ Trails, where five natural cascading lakes lie peacefully beneath the dense forest canopy. Use supportive ropes and mind your steps while descending slippery cliffs—gloves, a long-sleeve shirt, and proper trekking shoes are highly recommended.
By now, you might feel ready for a delicious picnic lunch. Enjoy fresh fruits, tea, coffee, and cake, with time to relax and connect with nature. You can also take a refreshing swim in the tranquil lakes, rounding off your experience amidst the serenity of the forest.
The afternoon is devoted to exploring medicinal and botanical gardens along 5 km of trails. Discover their scientific significance and learn about traditional healing practices rooted in local knowledge. Arrive at the breathtaking Đỗ Quyên Waterfall, named after the vibrant Rhododendron flower. Take in the marvelous vista from the top—a highlight not to be missed.
Afterward, rejoin your vehicle for a scenic descent. If the weather permits, enjoy the stunning sunset and sea clouds along the way. You’ll arrive back at your hotel in Hue by late afternoon.
