How does Imperial Hue Marathon benefit destination images?

Beside the festive atmosphere of Hung King Commemoration Day, today the imperial city of HUE sees a blast of energy, joys, pride, family and community solidarity. The VM Imperial Hue 2022 gathers more than 4.700 runners and families to celebrate sport, culture, and tourism. In the setting of tourism recovery, we should congratulate this achievement as it creates a healthy destination marketing, city branding. Participants of the marathon seek to have fun and joy before and after the race. They want a sense of belonging to their existing and new running community, domestically and internationally. Many sharing, connecting play the ambassador roles for Hue tourism. Participating athletes wear colorful clothing, special accessories like Ao Dai, and a conical hat to promote Hue’s culture “Capital of Ao Dai”. There are many cheers along the routes, local performances and food that help to affirm Hue’s identity.


Many runners show pride and intimate affection to join the Hue marathon after an hard training. They look to share as much as possible from the event, not only by check-in, visiting typical places but also shopping for attractive souvenirs, gifts. They will maximize the time, money cost-effectiveness of a combined journey rather than a purely tourism leisure trip. For Hue tourism, and destination image, these runners surely help.


To facilitate the VM Marathon 2022, 900 volunteers were called on board with deep training. This prepares Hue human resource to cope up with future events when the city aims at being the “Festival City of Vietnam”. It offers an opportunity for the young generation to see a new perspective of Sport Tourism. For local tourism suppliers, they can make use of the event organiser to distribute promotional materials, such as small pamphlets, flyers, travel guides, or coupons for local tours, attractions, accommodations, and restaurants. Ideally, many can gain immediate commercial benefits or long-term brand awareness raising.


VM Hue Imperial 2022 organizers incorporate magnificent views of Hue Citadel, the Huong aka Perfume River, Truong Tien Bridge, tree lined streets and the lush rice field in the suburb, Thanh Toan village. This uniquely designed route with special architecture, green garden city offers breathtaking natural scenery and promotes the tourism strengths of Hue. For local audiences, this helps them understand the treasure they are possessing and pride to preserve for future generations.
